You will climb the mountain in Celeste which possesses insecure perils & powers. During ascend you will also face your inner forces. The mountain is not just a giant rock & you will encounter numerous challenges while climbing it.

Celeste Release date:

Celeste was released on 25 January, 2018 on PC Windows, mac OS, Linux, PS4, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch.

Celeste Gameplay:

You will control a woman named Madeline in Celeste. She makes her way up a mountain while avoiding obstacles that come in her path. Madeline can jump & climb walls for a limited amount of time. She can also perform a mid-air dash in any direction. She can perform this move once & needs to be replenished by either landing on the ground or hitting various objects such as replenishing crystals. You can also obtain one more dash later during gameplay. You can perform even more moves by using additional mechanics such as springs that launch you or feather which let you flight for a while.

Every level of Celeste is filled with secret rooms & hidden items. You can collect strawberries throughout levels & many of which need challenging acrobatics to gather. The strawberries are of no use. You can pick them if you want as it will provide satisfaction that you have cleared difficult rooms but if it seems very difficult, you can simply walk away. These strawberries can only affect Celeste’s ending slightly depending on how many of them have been gathered. You can try your best to collect bonus items or leave them if you can’t.

You can also collect cassette tapes which unlock harder “B-Side” variations of various levels & hearts can be used to access post game content. If you are successful in beating all the B-Sides then C-Side versions will be unlocked, which consists of hard but short variations upon the levels. You can also find original Celeste Classic Pico-8 prototype which is a hidden mini game.

The game let players to determine the level of challenge they are comfortable with. You can use a robust Assist Mode which allow you to adjust game speed, turn on infinite stamina or even activate invulnerability.

The game is filled with new difficulties & each room provides new challenges but you can only avoid them by jumping. The game has in depth controls in which jumping is remixed in many of different, exciting ways.

To achieve success, you will control Madeline & let her pass through hundreds of platform filled rooms rife with spike pits & other difficulties. She can jump a small height & perform a single mid-air dash. Sheer walls are scalable but her limited stamina prevents her from hanging onto a Cliffside forever. You need to judge in seconds where you want to go & how to get there. When you dash? Can you climb that wall without her energy giving out? The game is filled with uncertainty & there is not much time so you have to think quickly & perform appropriate action.

If you fail then you can eventually die. When you start playing Celeste you will find out that early rooms are accommodating & breezy, later levels are full of false pathways & problems. If you did not jump at the right time, then you can repeat & it become clear to accept that everything will not go as planned in Celeste.
