Earth Defense Force (EDF) 5 is the fifth main installment in the EDF series.

Early missions allow players to fight against giant ants or spiders & quickly progress to 3 story tall frogs or flying alien ships that rain down reinforcements.

You will face hordes of monsters attacking you in huge, completely destructible, & ugly city environments.

After completing 60 hours of gameplay which involved bug hunting using a variety of weapons & skills, I still want to play this game from the start.

Protect this world from alien invasion. This game will let you fight hundreds of adversaries at once.

EDF 5 includes 110 missions in 5 difficulties.

Earth Defense Force 5 Story:

Deep underground, a huge facility was attacked by creatures. At the same time, a big spaceship flew around the earth & started attacking people.

You are one of the private citizens who was inside the base. You need to fight against the creatures & you are the only courageous person who can save this world from alien invasion.

Earth Defense Force 5 Gameplay:

EDF 5 is set in the year 2022, when huge alien army invades this world. You cannot choose the hardest difficulty when you start the campaign but you can unlock this difficulty after completing EDF 5.

You need to fight against big ants, & giant frogs & more giant bugs. You can use many futuristic weapons, & skills to eliminates waves of giant insects & aliens.

EDF 5 also features 4 playable classes. Rangers are your standard infantry weapon experts, while Wing Divers can perform aerial attacks & they can fly with jet packs. The Air Raiders can call air strikes & vehicle drops. Fencers are equipped with power armor & they can take down massive swarms of enemies.

The Wing Divers can fly & they use plasma weapons which offer a totally different playing experience. It is difficult to survive if you are not equipped well, even on lower difficulties. You can’t resume from a checkpoint when you die, & this makes some missions really frustrating.

Mission length varies from few minutes to half an hour, based on how quick you eliminate enemies.

When you pick up a weapon that you already have, then there is a chance that it will upgrade your existing weapon. You can upgrade every stat of your weapon. You can see a star next to the stat which indicates its present power level. A blank star indicates the weapon can improve, whereas a white star shows the stat is now maxed out. When you fully upgrade your weapon, a star appears next to the weapon name.

Play 2 player co-op on one screen, & play all missions in online co-op which allow up to 4 players.

Earth Defense Force 5 was released on PS4 on 11 December 2018. It was launched on PC on 11 July 2019.
