PS5 will use third generation Ryzen CPU & SSD

Features of PlayStation 5 are revealed: It will include SSD, 3rd generation Ryzen CPU & will support 8K resolution.

More info. about Sony’s PlayStation 5 is available but it has not been confirmed yet. In an interview with Wired, Mark Cerny who is the lead system architect for PS4, revealed info. about his work on PS5.

In interview, he confirmed that the PS5 is partially based on PS4 architecture, which shows that it has backward compatibility. He said that PS5 is not an all-digital device which means that it will accept physical discs. PS5 will not be completely different than PS4 like PS3 was fully different from PS2 because many games will launch on both PS4 & PS5.

PS5 features

There will be an AMD chip in PS5 that has a CPU based on the 3rd generation Ryzen. It will include 8 cores of the 7 nanometer Zen 2 microchip. It will support 8k resolution but the display of high resolution will depend on the TV.

PS5 will provide quicker loads speeds, improved graphics & audio. It will not launch in 2019 but most of its features are now available.

A solid state drive (SSD) will be used for storage which provides faster load speeds. Characters & environments both will run faster with SSD.

It can operate both downloaded & physical media.

No cost or release date for PS5 is announced.
