Xbox Series X vs Xbox One: Compare current vs next-generation console:

All specifications of Xbox Series X are revealed now. Next generation Xbox console will be able to provide 13 teraflops of performance. It will have a 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM. 10 GB of RAM will operate at 560 GB/s while remaining 6 GB will operate at a slower rate of 330 GB/s.

New console always releases with new exclusive games but Xbox Series X will not launch with exclusive titles. Xbox Series X first party games will be completely cross-generation for 1st or 2nd year.

Microsoft will keep launching games on Xbox One & those games will offer upgraded performance on the Series X.

Games will still launch across platforms but they will provide improved performance on Xbox Series X.

According to WindowCentral, the core part of the CPU is much larger than Xbox One X. It may generate more heat, which could be the reason why Xbox Series X has been purposefully designed like a tower to stay cool.

Trademark:

When Microsoft revealed Xbox Series X during The Game Awards, they did so with the associated tag: “Power Your Dreams”. It means that the upcoming console is very powerful & it has the power to make things that you can only dream of. Microsoft like this slogan so much that they have now trademarked it.

Name:

Xbox Project Scarlett has a new name "Xbox Series X". Xbox Series X will release in Holiday 2020.

Xbox One X is the most powerful console right now but Xbox Series X will be twice powerful than Xbox One X.

Xbox Series X Specifications:

Series X will use a custom AMD Zen 2 processor & a Navi GPU that can support ray tracing, up to 120 FPS, 8K resolution, & the quickest GDDR6 memory.

Ray Tracing:

Ray tracing will be used to make next generation games look better. If you do not know what is ray tracing, then it is a rendering technique that simulates how light bounces off an item. The outcome is lighting effects & shadows that seem practically photorealistic.

Games:

There are a few confirmed games for Xbox Series X. Halo Infinite will be a launch title on Series X. HellBlade 2 is another confirmed game.

No support for VR:

Next Xbox will not support virtual reality.

Xbox Series X has a rectangular tower design. On the front of Series X, you will find its logo & disk slot which will help those who purchase physical copies. The top part of Series X is more eye catching. Inside the centered top grille is a bright green circle.

The tall size allows just a single big fan to take out all hot air from top.

Controller:

When you look at Series X controller then you will find that it seems similar to Xbox One controller. However, there are many modifications. Now you can find a share button which is situated in the mid of the Series X controller, & it allows you to send content to other players instantly when you press it, which works similar to PS4’s controller.

A hybrid D-pad is now available & there are enhanced input latency which reduces delay to zero when you press button & it transforms it into action in the game. New controller is more comfortable to use than previous controllers.

Old controllers can also work on Xbox Series X, but new controller is backward compatible with Xbox One.

Backward Compatibility:

In an interview with GamesRadar, Xbox Game Studios head, Matt Booty said that he believes Xbox Series X has an advantage because it supports backward compatibility & you will be able to play games of Xbox One, Xbox 360, & Xbox on Xbox Series X so the next generation console will have biggest release lineup of any Xbox console ever.

Series X is able to play 4 generation of Xbox games & also it can support Xbox One controllers & other peripherals you have.

Backward compatibility is one of Xbox One’s standard features that offers Xbox One an advantage over PS4. Sony’s PS4 lacks backward compatibility feature but PS5 will support backward compatibility for PS4 & these games will operate faster on PS5 in some cases.

RAM:

For standard RAM Microsoft Xbox Series X will use GDDR6. It will have a physical disk drive. All Xbox One accessories can be used with Xbox Series X, which includes controllers & headsets.

Microsoft’s next generation Xbox uses SSD as virtual RAM & for storage too. 

Xbox Series X will be 2 times faster than Xbox One X. It can support up to 120 FPS & Microsoft has designed a new generation of SSD. They said that they are using SSD as Virtual RAM which will tremendously enhance the performance of the hardware. 

Players have the freedom to connect to cross devices & cross platforms. Game developers have the opportunity to develop the games they have always envisioned.
