The Lion King broke box office records in North America in first 3 days of release:

Disney’s new remastered, The Lion King, broke many box office records as the movie made $185 million in North America (NA) in first 3 days of release. The Lion King earned $531 million internationally & contains $97 million from China, where it was released a week before.

The Lion King is above Beauty & the Beast which generated $174.7 million in NA to become the highest opening of all time for a Disney remaster in NA. Also it holds the record for highest NA launch for a live action or animated PG rated movie from any studio.

It beaks the record set by Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows – Part two which received $169.2 million to set a record of biggest July opening in NA. Also The Lion King is now Disney’s highest opening ever in NA.

The Lion King features photo realistic computer animated visuals & it is a remastered of Disney’s original The Lion King which was released in 1994. The story of The Lion King follows Simba who is a little lion & he must become a trustworthy king of the Jungle after beating his uncle Scar who killed his father Mufasa.
