Nintendo released Switch Lite which is a powerful & inexpensive model based on Nintendo Switch. Unlike Nintendo Switch which can function as a handheld or home console, Switch Lite is designed as a hand held unit. Some of the main features are missing from Nintendo Switch Lite such as you cannot connect Switch Lite to TV, the Joy-Cons cannot split from Switch.

Nintendo Switch Lite is a lightweight model of the Switch & you can use it for portable use. It has a smaller size. The Joy-Con controllers are fixed & it feels stronger than the original Switch.

Switch Lite looks very pretty. It is available in 4 colors including coral pink, yellow, gray & turquoise, & all of them are very attractive.

D-pad is a better option when playing some games

The controls have improved & you can use D-pad which is surely a bonus when playing some games like Mario Maker 2 & the analog sticks are a bit bigger & flexible than analog sticks of Joy-Cons. It is a portable device & more comfortable to use as compared to original Switch.

Original Switch was able to provide a battery life of 2.5 to 6.5 hours based on the game you are running. New Switch has improved battery life & it can provide a play time of 4.5 to 9 hours. Switch Lite can provide a battery life of 3 – 7 hours which is better than original Switch but new Switch can offer more play time than Switch Lite. The Joy-Cons are not detachable so there are no dedicated batteries required for them which is a good news.

Nintendo Switch Lite is cheap when it is compared to Switch. You can get Switch Lite for $200, & Switch can be purchased for $300 which means you can save $100.

Cons of Nintendo Switch Lite vs Nintendo Switch 2 Pro:

Some games don’t support hand held mode. Also if you want to play such games, you would require purchasing a pair of Joy-Cons & discover a way to prop the system up for playing games on Nintendo Switch Lite. However, most of the titles can be played on Switch Lite.

You cannot play multiplayer games on Switch Lite because the controllers are attached to Lite. Nintendo Switch has 2 Joy-Con controllers which allow 2 players to play games in multiplayer mode. Buy extra controllers if you want to play multiplayer games. You need to buy a stand for Switch Lite & also buy separate controllers for each player. However, you can play multiplayer games online with other friends. You cannot play all games with Switch Lite including Nintendo Labo. Nintendo Switch Lite controllers are not detachable so it means it won’t fit into the cardboard peripherals for playing games in VR.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro is set to be released in early 2021. Nintendo Switch 2 Pro is a more powerful device compared to Nintendo Switch Lite in terms of overall gameplay experience featuring high quality visual graphics, and faster gameplay.
