Yakuza Kiwami Review:

For over a decade Sega is developing Yakuza games that is also known as Ryu ga Gotoku in Japan. Yakuza has turned out to be one of Sega’s most popular game series & is loved by millions of fans who like the game’s stunning graphics & deep story. Yakuza 6 is set to be released exclusively for PS4. Yakuza Kiwami was released on 31 August 2017 for PS3 & PS4. Yakuza game series has made lots of sales worldwide for over a decade. Yakuza Kiwami is actually a remaster of original Yakuza that was released for PS2. The game made a huge business on PlayStation 2, so the developers released a Yakuza remaster that is an enhanced version of the original game.  


Two Titles:

Yakuza game is known with two names. It is originally known as Ryu ga Gotoku in Japan & the Yakuza Kiwami is titled Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami while it is known as Yakuza Kiwami worldwide with English translation.

Yakuza Remastered:

Yakuza Kiwani is a remastered version of the previous Yakuza game that was released on PS2. In that aspect, it looks like a perfect game for the Western fans as it offers gamers an opportunity to begin from the start of the game’s story. Yakuza Kiwami takes the game to the next level as the game is built on the franchise expertise acquired over a decade.


Old vs Remastered Comparison:

The developers have changed many aspects of the original video game but the major improvement is obviously the resolution. The PS2 version of the game operates at 512x448 while on PS4, they have changed the resolution to fit 1920x1080.

Other improvements are made in the quality of cut scenes & gameplay. The game is featured in more detail on PS4 console.

The character appearance & game’s surroundings are also enhanced. The game’s graphics have remarkable improved. One of the major improvements lies in the camera & loading systems. On PlayStation 2, Yakuza used fixed camera system which changes based on player positioning. The camera switch presents a complete scene changes while in Yakuza Kiwami camera loads in every scene & player feels that the surroundings are real.

Yakuza Kiwami Release Date:

Yakuza Kiwami was released on PS4 on 29 August, 2017. The game was launched on PC on 19 February, 2019.
