Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a platformer created & distributed by Sega. It is the second main game in Sonic the Hedgehog series. In the game narrative, Sonic & Tails need to prevent series villain Dr. Eggman from stealing the Chaos Emeralds that he needs to power his space station.

When you gather fifty rings & pass a checkpoint, you can warp to a "special stage". Here you have to collect a set amount of rings. Here players can acquire a special ability called Super Sonic that makes your character invincible to attacks, your character runs faster, & get improved jump abilities for some time.

The game is a classic 2D side-scrolling platformer. Players have the option to choose either Sonic, Tails, or both as both have similar abilities. In the latter mode, player controls Sonic while the other character Tails runs along beside him. The fascinating thing is that a second player can join the game at any time & take control of Tails. The game includes a series of levels. Each level contains one, two, or three acts including a boss fight. Your player can jump on opponents to beat them. In order to get speed boost, you can also perform "spin dash" in which your character curls in a ball & spins while stationary, thus getting a speed boost.
