AI The Somnium Files Review:

AI The Somnium Files is an exciting mystery-adventure game. The game is set in future. Kaname Date is a detective who is currently investigating a case related to a serial eliminator. Kaname Date himself lost one of his eye years ago due to unknown circumstances before the start of the play. He now has an artificial eye having an A.I. unit named as Aiba that helps him in his investigations.

The game has two sections: investigation & somnium.

In investigation, players have to use their A.I. unit Aiba's functions. These includes X-ray vision & zooming in order take the investigation forward in the actual world.

AI The Somnium Files Gameplay:

During the somnium, players have to use a machine in order to get inside the memories of suspects or the memories of key witnesses. They need to know whether suspects are telling the truth or not or the machine is used on those who do not want to give information. Players get inside the memories in the form of dreamscapes called "somnium". The purpose is to find clues & get the information by solving complex puzzles. The puzzles can be to investigative items & choose an action to perform with it. In short, players have to solve puzzles that are actually hurdles that come in the way of clues. That’s how players go deeper into the character's subconscious. They have 6 minute before the dreamscape collapses. So players have to quickly take actions & have to decide what need to be done. Within the somnium parts, AI Aiba acts as the players’ avatar.

The game includes side missions as well. In the game, players’ choices matter & choices have consequences too. The decisions taken by players can result in multiple endings. The game can be played again & again in order to unlock different endings, & to know the complete story from different angles & perspectives.
