Hokuto Ga Gotoku also known as Fist of the North Star in English was released for PS4 on 8 March, 2018 in Japan. Fist of the North Star is a 3D action / adventure video game developed by Sega’s Yakuza series & it features the voice cast of the Yokuza series portraying established Hokuto no Ken characters.  

This is the story of Kenshiro who is a muscled fighter & he enters a mysterious city in search of his fiancée Yuria. A new legend of the savior begins. Kenshiro fights against harshness & he shows kindness for the weak.

The game is set during time when people have been destroyed & there is not enough food. Brave people are struggling to find ration. The world is in chaos. At the corner of the planet, there is a city of miracles also known as Eden.

Kenshiro is a muscular man who one day arrives at Eden. Fist of the North Star story is set in an alternative universe as Kenshiro walks into the paradise of Eden to find Yuria.

Eden gets water & energy from a giant dome shaped relic of the old world called Sphere City. The life here is amazing & resident live a happy life that others in this era cannot even imagine.

This city does not allow people from the outside world & hence Kenshiro is stopped at the gate. Now how he can enter this city?

Eden plays host to martial arts competition where the winner will be offered a wish by the Eden’s ruler.

Comparison of Fist of the North Star & Yakuza:

Yakuza is about an honorable Yakuza named Kazuma Kiryu & he works to establish peace in the city of chaos. Yakuza is set in Tokyo, Japan.

We can compare these two games from the same developer. The stories have something common like the main character is fighting against bullies, with underlying themes of loyalty & revenge.

There are many characters who shows up during the game in addition to new characters who drive the story forward & offer motivation for Kenshiro’s mission. The inclusion of old fan favorite characters provide a sense of familiarity to fans & helps to establish the tale as a part of the bigger Hokuto no Ken universe.

You will get different colored orbs that let you access new skills & passives like health & damage in four separate skill trees. You can increase your health bar & you can enhance the damage that your enemy gets from your hits. You can also have an access to powerful new techniques. The process of unlocking new techniques feels rewarding but there are certain techniques which require you to progress through the story before unlocking it.

Hokuto Ga Gotuko demo includes two scenarios to make you familiar with the gameplay. There is a tutorial fight against Kenshiro’s old enemy, Shin, while the other scenario includes a few side activities like driving a buggy & exploring the new city.

Hokuto Ga Gotoku (Fist of the North Star) Release date:

Hokuto Ga Gotoku was released in Japan on 8 March, 2018 & Sega also uploaded a new trailer of the game.

This is a long video showing some story cutscenes & many characters including villains that you will meet during gameplay.

The release date of Fist of the North Star is not announced by Sega so far so we are waiting for the game to come to North America & Europe.
