The game allows you to control Mirai, who acts as a leader of a new group that are exploring sea. The game allows you to solve dangers created by people such as plastic waste & oil spills. Beyond Blue is a collaborative project of E-Line Media & BBC to provide real life like experience, & this game teaches players about sea & problems of the sea too.

Beyond Blue is set in the near future. In this game, players take control of a marine biologist named Mirai, the lead on a newly created research team with the purpose of exploring the ocean by using new technologies.

Beyond Blue tells the story of Marai, who is investigating the South China Sea. A biomass has formed that is pushing creatures together into a small area & is also leading creatures to strange behaviors. The playable character known as Marai uses her suit in order to scan animals. This shows how the creatures move throughout the ocean, where these creatures hunt & even where these creatures go to breed.

Players have to study the same creature over & over again in order to learn these creatures pattern & their habits. They can put tags on some creatures. In the game they are able to see the world from the perspective of these creatures. Players have to manage resources in high-stakes situations in order to be successful during the crew's expedition. The game puts Marai in challenging situations, with hunter creatures nearby. Players can not see a “game over” screen when she dies. Rather, if she runs into danger, Marai will retreat to her submarine. Marai can also use a robot to navigate the troubled waters.
