Praetorians HD Remaster Review:


Rather than building or resource management, Praetorians focuses on military & tactics. You must train units from a garrison.

HD remasters of Commandos 2 & Praetorians are set to be launched on 24 January 2020. You can get them individually, but you will get discount when you get them together in the Double Pack.

Praetorians HD Remaster Gameplay:

Each civilization has its own pool of units that have varying strengths, skills & weaknesses. The variation in units provides different strategic ideas based on the type of civilization you are using. Light infantry units are not as strong as heavy infantry units in battle, but you can use them as builders as no other units can do this task. Heavy infantry units are powerful in battle but they move slowly, & they cannot cross water. Archers are weak in hand to hand battle, particularly against cavalry units, but they are able to set fire to damage buildings & siege equipment. Spear units are very good in hand to hand battle, but they are weak against heavier infantry units & arrow fire, & they are unable to cross forests. Cavalry units are fast, & they have no difficulty in outmaneuvering most troops, but they are weak & most of the cavalry units cannot cross forests.

The game includes different types of lands. Forests help in hiding infantry, & to spring traps against armies out in the open. Watery land can prevent heavy infantry units from travelling. Grassy land can be lit on fire, & it can destroy armies that cross this fire.

This game is different from other games of the same genre because raw materials are not useful in it. In other strategy games, objects including wood, food, stone & gold can be gathered & you can spend it to build new units. However, you will need honor points to hire stronger units. Honor points are collected when you battle against opponent soldiers & eliminate rival armies.

3 game modes are available in Praetorians HD remaster such as Skirmish, Campaign, & Multiplayer.

Skirmish:

Skirmish functions allows you to decide a difficulty level first then lets you select up to one character & up to seven AI players are controlled by artificial intelligence. These can be Roman, Egyptian or an unknown barbarian tribe. After this step is over, alliances can be made by joining 2 forces on the same squad, whether you can set them before the game begins, or during the gameplay.

Campaign:

You can contribute as Julius Caesar & control armies of different sizes against different aggressive tribes including barbarian, Egyptian, & near the conclusion of the game you can control Roman origin. Praetorians campaign includes four tutorial levels, which guide you on how to control armies around the map, start battle & offering hints about how you may best use the soldiers. The game includes 20 campaign quests.

Multiplayer:

Praetorians HD remaster offers an online multiplayer mode. Also players can enjoy single player campaign.
