Mario Tennis Aces introduces new
techniques such as topspin’s where the tennis ball moves parallel to the
direction of hit, “slices”, which let ball curves to one side when hit &
“lobs”, lets the ball move up.
Mario Tennis Aces features many
new mechanics in the Mario Tennis series. Player can initiate a zone shot by
using the motion controls of the Joy-Con. Zone shot allows gamer aim straight
where the ball can travel while the gameplay enters pause state. If a rival
counters the zone shot, it can damage their racket. Player can break an
opponent’s racket after hitting him three times with zone shot which can force
opponents to lose the match if it is their final match. Gamers can use multiple
rackets in each match. Players can counter a zone shot without getting damage
using a block & it can be achieved by hitting the tennis ball with best
timing.
One more feature in Mario Tennis
Aces is zone speed. When player use this feature, the match enters slow motion
but the players can travel with normal pace, they can reach faraway shots
quickly using this feature. Zone speed & zone shot utilizes part of the
player’s energy gauge which is filled & drained during the tennis match. To
refill the energy gauge, player must keep a rally going with the rival or
utilize the trick shot skill. The trick shot skill let player speedily move to
where the tennis ball lands. If it succeeds, player energy gauge can fill up to
certain level. It is difficult to monitor the timing & it is risky to use
this skill. Player can also refill gauge using one more skill which is known as
special shot. If player use this feature, the energy gauge can be filled up
completely. This skill can unleash a very powerful shot that has the potential
to break the rival’s racket regardless of its present damage. But the opponent can block this shot likewise
the zone shot. Player can also experience a simple rules mode in Mario Tennis
Aces, where players are only allowed to hit simple shots & player can’t hit
other powerful shots that we described previously like zone speed, zone shots,
trick shots & special shots. Similarly, player cannot use energy gauge in
simple rules mode.
