Planet Alpha Release date:

Planet Alpha is released on 4 September, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One, PC Windows & Nintendo Switch.

Planet Alpha Gameplay:

The playable character travels through harsh environment during the gameplay. Planet Alpha is a game of mystery & discovery where you don’t know about yourself & where you are going or why you are on this amazing world. You won’t know the answers because the game does not have it. All you have to do is to keep moving forward. It is a tour of a world that feels truly alien, by way of a 2D platformer.

The sights & location you can watch & explore are varied, with each of Planet Alpha chapters will take you to a different environment. You can travel through catacombs, architectural structures, jungles & also across islands floating in the sky. You can see the beauty is each location, but the deep backgrounds of Planet Alpha are truly amazing. The backgrounds teem with life & a sense of history. Something wrong has happened on this planet & you can see it all unfold.

The game is beautiful from its start to end. You will feel like you are on a tour & while you are taking picture on your journey of giant aliens, bioluminescent planets, & inter species fights that break out in the distance. You will find the camera often zoom out to let you enjoy the stunning environment & the vistas that stretch to a distant horizon.

The game is focused on platforming puzzles. You will have to move the climb able boxes & find out how to avoid the dangerous monsters. You can only be victorious if you watch your surroundings carefully & time your actions well. If you want to get past rivals, it needs either some stealth or luring them into danger. You can perform several actions & if you are defeated then it will help you out in avoiding the same strategy you used earlier. You can quickly respawn & changes that you make to the surrounding persist.

You have the power to rotate the planer using shoulder buttons. Initially, only you are able to do it in designated spots but later during gameplay you can do it anywhere. You can convert day into night, making use of the day / night cycle & the fact that some elements of the surroundings change b/w the two. During day time, you can use mushroom for jumping & at night you will find some plants awaken & unfurl, which you can use as a cover or sneak past through an area. Also rotating helps move elements in the surrounding, so a platform might rise or shift, or a door might open if rotation is done in the correct direction. These puzzles are rarely difficult & while the planet rotation ability feels inherently grand when you first start using it, there are no unpredicted twists or fresh exciting wrinkles in how this mechanic works.

These feats feel interesting & the game offers many great scripted sequences throughout the environment that see you just barely surviving as you run, jump & climb away from hazards. But the controls can feel stiff in instances where accuracy is needed & there will be instances when you will fall to your demise because your last microsecond jump did not register & because your hero does not grab the ledge due to certain reason.

There are moments when you will feel frustration while playing a platformer like this but you will find the puzzles are relatively simple. You will feel pleasure while exiting on this world, in navigating its harsh terrain & admiring its vistas, & the sheer beauty of it all makes the Planet Alpha’s flaws easy to tolerate.
