Overland Review:
Overland is a squad-based,
survival strategy game. The game is set in future where a disaster devastated
the whole North America. Players travel by car & help survivors. They have
to make difficult choices due to limited resources such as gas, other supplies &
weapons. They need to fight against monsters who have better hearing abilities.
Overland Gameplay:
The game features turn-based
action. Action is shown on small maps in the form of events. Each event lets players
to do tasks such as moving something or someone, making a campfire &
resting, searching surrounding landscape, or fighting against dangerous monsters.
Event maps are randomly generated so that means no two events can be the same
& players have to face constantly new challenges all the time. They have to
journey across grasslands, mountains, deserts & to strange places.
Your car has limited seats that
means most of the time you have to take someone with better skills & leave
someone who has no such skills that you need. In the game, you have to also fight
against dangerous monsters, rescue survivors & look for supplies such as fuel,
first aid kits, weapons, shields, axes, potted plants, armor & luggage. Limited
amount of supplies can force players to make some difficult choices. They have
to find a balance between exploration & saving supplies. Every decision has
consequences so players have to always make a right decision at the right time
& at the right place.
