To the Moon Review:

To the Moon is not focused on combat, but the game focuses on narrative & you need to solve puzzles, interpret info. from patient’s life & discover ways to go deeper into his memories.

To the Moon Story:

An indie adventure role playing game about 2 doctors travelling through the memories of a dying patient to complete his final wish.

A technology lets doctors weave fake memories, such that the person wakes up with memories of stuff that did not happen in reality.

The new memories are permanent & the conflict b/w them & the current real memories clash in such a way that it ceases the patient’s skill to function properly.

This treatment is only done to patients on deathbeds so their final wish is completed such that they wanted to achieve something in their life but that did not happen.

To the Moon Gameplay:

To the Moon gameplay is based on discovering subject’s memories to discover significant items & gather energy. Sometimes you need to discover subject’s house & the surrounding region to find clues, if you are unable to collect enough energy from a certain memory, or you do not know how to shift to a further one.

Once you are able to collect every object & you have seen every memory then you can join certain items that exist across 2 different memories to move freely b/w them. At this point, you start controlling the memories, by changing around characters, items & events, to make protagonist believe he had completed his desire of going to the Moon.

But making new memory is not as easy as taping a button.

You need to enter the memories of the patient, which are rebuilt as interactive scenes. Then travel backwards through memories of the patient’s life until you reach their childhood & the patient’s current wish would be transferred over to the childhood point.

Together with doctor’s operation, patient acting as a child could lead a completely different life inside their mind, working toward & completing their final wish.

And if everything goes well, then they would get up with the satisfaction of achieving what they desired but shortly after they would stop breathing.
