work in NHL 22 but you can still enjoy this feature if you purchase a more
expensive version of the game.
If I purchase the PlayStation 5
edition of NHL 22, then I can’t enjoy the game with players who purchased the
PlayStation 4 edition of NHL 22 & installed it on their PlayStation 4. But
if I have also purchased the PS4 edition of the game, then I can enjoy the game
with other gamers who are using the PlayStation 4 edition on their PlayStation
4. If players use the same edition of NHL 22 as their buddies, then they can
enjoy the game with them.
But do we have to purchase two
copies of NHL 22 in order to play with PS4 players? Purchase X-Factor Edition
of the game that contains both PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 editions of
NHL 22. If you purchase the NHL 22 X-Factor Edition on PlayStation 5, then you
must install it twice. You need to setup the PlayStation 5 edition, which lets
you play with other PlayStation 5 players, & you need to setup PlayStation
4 edition to enjoy the game with players of PlayStation 4. Same method works
for Xbox.
If you want to enjoy NHL 22 with
players of both old & new generation on PlayStation or Xbox, then you need
to buy X-Factor Edition of NHL 22 that must be installed twice in order to play
with both generations of the console.

Cross Gen Save / Cross Gen Progression
gives players an opportunity to transfer their game data including saved games
& other stuff from current to next-gen systems.
Does NHL 22 Support Cross Gen Save or Cross Gen Progression?
If you want to share your progress from current to next-generation of consoles then only HUT mode supports this feature. Other modes do not allow you to transfer your data from current to next-gen systems.
