Kenya cricket set to rise again

Kenya cricket set to rise again

Cricket Development in Kenya:

Kenya has been one of the oldest associate member of ICC. Kenya gained ODI status in 1996 and soon after that Kenya bowled West Indies out of just 93 runs in 1999 world cup. Kenya gained Twenty 20 status in 2007 when shorter format of game was promoted through out the world. Kenya was once a tough opponent when it came to one day internationals. Most of readers won't believe if i say that Kenya has played in semi final of ICC World Cup 2003. Kenya is a team that defeated West Indies in 1996 World Cup, WI were all out for 93 runs in the match. At one stage ICC was thinking of giving Kenya test status but it all disappeared with in no time. Kenya cricket was let down by their management.

From such a glorious time, Kenya slipped down ranking and start to struggle playing against Associate teams. "Our cricket management let us down big time," Tikolo reflected, calling corruption "an open secret". Kenya once a challenging ODI team has lost ODI status in 2014. Cricket Kenya is working with government and security forces to bring cricket back to the country. Kenya will be hosting an international match after four years. Kenya will play Hong Kong in ICC World Cricket League Championship match at Nairobi.

Kenya set to Rise Again

ICC head of global development, Andy Hobbs said, "Ten years ago their focus was very much on the national team, whereas now there's a very strong focus on the whole cricket system". Cricket Kenya is working on development of cricket at grass root levels. It is proposed that qualified coaches should be introduced to the system and urgent improvements are required at domestic level. Poverty is one of the main issue in development of cricket in Kenya. As long as no financial support is provided to players, cricket won't develop in the country. Kenya Cricket is set to rise again after proper attention is given to whole cricket system in country. If Kenyan succeed in ICC World Cricket League championship and work its way back to international matches then soon Kenya might get ODI and Twenty20 status back. Good Luck Kenya, hope plans for development of cricket in Kenya goes well.

On April 18, 1986 Pakistan was playing against India in Sharjah. 4 runs were required from last ball and only one wicket in hand. Chetan Sharma was the bowler and wanted to bowl a yorker to seal an other win for India. Thinking was right but execution was wrong, yorker turned in to a low full toss which Miandad smashed for a six and became a national hero of Pakistan. It was exactly 28 years ago, but still fresh in peoples mind. Because of this victory Pakistan got a psychological advantage over India and had a series of success afterwards.

Michael Clarke against D/N Test Format

Michael Clarke stood against day / night Test format:

Michael Clarke, Australia Test captain has said that Test cricket doesn't need Day and Night format for survival. Three forms of cricket can survive together, ODI and Twenty20 are day and night but Test is never played in dark. Clarke told reporters, "I think there is room for all three forms of the game. It is great that ODI and T20 cricket can be day/night, but I don't believe we need day/night Tests for Test cricket to survive".
England former player Kevin Pietersen called it a silly suggestion to start playing Test at night with pink ball and pink stumps. Its better to leave this format a lone and encourage teams to play reasonable number of Tests to keep this format alive.

Sportsmen suffering from mental illness

Sportsmen suffering from mental illness

Sportsmen suffering from mental pressure:

Sports players spend so much time focusing on their sport, their career, their fitness, that they neglect themselves. They don't think about what they need, to be healthy people (James West of the sporting chance clinic)

Players stressed out

A few high profile sportsmen have suffered from depression in past few months. Most of the time it is because of time spent away from home, loss of self esteem and issues in personal lives. Prolonged stress usually leads to depression and then mental health issues. Usually the first 2 years after retirement is the most difficult time for players. Sportsmen usually feel like losing their identity after retiring from sport. According to psychotherapist and hypnotherapist, many players will transition easily and there is no problem, outwardly at least. others may become depressed and handle this by turning to alcohol, cigarettes or social drugs. Some of the players will find a high paid job after retirement but a lot would be job less. It is really important that they find something else to do, to keep them occupied because sportsmen are after all humans.

Indian & Pakistani cricketers are friends

Indian & Pakistani cricketers are friends

Indian and Pakistani players friendly picture:

Why is India and Pakistan match taken as soldiers fighting in battle field rather than players playing in cricket field? Politician gets involved and future fixtures gets cancelled if there is any diplomatic issues between both countries. I appreciate rivalry which make this game even more competitive and exciting, take example of
England vs Australia in Ashes tournament, it is rated higher in rivalry and competitiveness than Indo Pak matches. There is a long history associated with Ashes and its a pride for them to win. There is a lot of harshness, sledging and exchange of words on field but same players will share jokes and drinks off field.

Media also gets involved a lot in Indo Pak cricket matches and make a big deal of it. Criticism of players and making fun of opposition strategies becomes their main weapon. Treating winning team as warriors or gladiators and as traitors in case of loss is just a big joke and it should be stopped.

Below is a photo of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh with Pakistani players, Kamran Akmal, Ahmad Shehzad and Saeej ajmal (left to right), if they can be friends then why can't us? why don't media show this photo to viewers, rather than spreading hatred and jealousy. Bottom line is people should understand cricket is just a sport and is broadcast on TV for entertainment purpose only and media should only convey this message.

Cricketer Amir performance against India

Cricketer Amir performance against India

When Mohammad Amir plays against India & Australia, it gives him extra energy (Classical Story):

Classical Sport Story

Mohammad Amir said in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo that being a bowler he is satisfied because he had made a comeback in all three formats after five years ban & it’s a big accomplishment. He didn’t play any cricket during five years period & had hardly played five first class games. He maintained his fitness even without playing cricket & after his return in 2016, he bowled second most overs for Pakistan in that year. He thanked to Almighty Allah for keeping him fit & he kept on representing Pakistan in all formats. After his return to Pakistan international team, he was unlucky at times when catches were dropped during his bowling. It was difficult for him to continue with same momentum after 5 years gap.

Amir reaction after dismissing Kohli
Mohammad Amir reaction after dismissing Virat Kohli in Champions Trophy final

Cricket fans missed Mohammad Amir who could swing the ball like Wasim Akram. He had long hairs when he was 17-18 years old but now he has a beard.

Amir thinks that nowadays the margin of swing in cricket has reduced now & it is difficult to get wickets with swinging deliveries now. However you can get swinging wickets based upon certain conditions like if it rain before the match then there will be moisture which can swing the ball otherwise the tracks are suitable for batting. As for the swing, when he played a Test series in West Indies, the conditions suit his bowling. The Duke ball swung so it means that he can still swing the ball.

It was difficult for Amir to maintain fitness after 5 years gap & he has once again started playing all three formats of cricket.

Amir has not played enough cricket & has big plans for the future but right now he is focusing on Tests, ODIs & T20 formats. He wants to play more cricket for Pakistan & so far he has played only 30 Test matches.

Amir’s two deliveries in Champions Trophy final against India changed his image in UK. The catch being dropped first & Kohli getting out on the next ball was the main reason for winning the final match. Amir thinks that team India are more dependent on Kohli’s performance.

When Amir plays against India & Australia, it gives him extra energy. He always wants to play better cricket against these top two teams. It is his dream to perform against India as it makes him feel proud & he gets support from Pakistani fans too. Every player wants to perform against tough team like India.
