You can fight against enemies which will be part of main or side missions. As the game progresses, you will be able to upgrade hero & get equipment. Equipment that you find in chests or those you pick up from dead rivals will have random stats & properties. You can upgrade weapons using replaceable parts.

Characters that are controlled by AI can help you in some missions. They can come to help the knocked down player & raise them again.

Borderlands 3 do not allow players to steal loot from other players in co-op mode as every player have their own loot drops that can be seen by only that particular players & other players can see completely different weapons meant for them.
