The Surge 2 Review:  

The Surge 2 levels are designed in different way with numerous layers & numerous connections.

A problem with designing levels in the first game was that, in some areas players did not really know what their mission was, so they would wander around until they come across an objective. Now this problem has been resolved in Surge 2. Players know clearly about their mission & where they need to travel to in the town to finish their objective but they can face distractions along the way.

The Surge 2 Gameplay:

The opponent behavior is modified in this game. They now have advanced AI. They can understand players’ actions in a better way, can coordinate well in teams, not to the extent that they are reading players’ mind but the concept is that there are more layers of behavior for players to learn & master.

Players can encounter a rival type in the new city who don’t have exo-suits. They are survivors but they are not affected by the nanobots. They want to snatch away players’ belongings & things. They are envious but they are individually weak than players, so they have to make themselves powerful before attacking players. They can make a team & can set up traps & when their team suffer casualties then they can try to find another team & unite with them.

Android rivals are not going to give up when players chop something off them, they can now change their behavior. If players remove the cannon they are using, then they cannot use it anymore but they are still dangerous. If players hit some armor plating & expose a weak point, then it can be easy to defeat them. Players have to always exploit weakness of enemies.

It is not required to learn rival behavior to get through the game but players can predict in a better way how a rival can attack if players do.

If players are equipped with a heavy gear then they can hard parry an opponent’s directional attack, pushing an attack away & cracking open their defenses. Players can also avoid the attack by dodging it but if they want to parry the attack then they have a chance to hit the opponent in the gizzards. They must take this kind of risk because it can give them a reason to master the rivals’ movements.

Players can use a UAV that follows them around & jabs their rivals who are not looking.

Players can also cut off melee weapons from rivals & use them for their own good. The game lets players cut off ranged weapons & install them on their drone. The drone can be used to disrupt one opponent while players are trying to focus on another. If players are facing a heavily guarded rival, then they can send the drone to hit them from the back, breaking their defense.

Players can create their own character in The Surge 2 using a character creator. They can choose the gender & appearance, & they can also choose the playstyle. They can be stealthy & sneaky or they can decide to become tankier & bulky. Players can decide the play style that they like.

The Surge 2's difficulty is flexible as compared to the first part. Players can choose the gameplay difficulty level in The Surge 2. Fans who played The Surge had different opinions regarding the difficulty level. There are fans who liked the difficulty curve but other fans said that the boss battles were very hard.

Now players have a chance to be well equipped when they are approaching a strong rival. If players approach a strong opponent, they can explore the surrounding or find other useful stuff. They can also complete other missions, improve their abilities in some ways & return when they are stronger.

The Surge 2 also includes boss battles. The first boss you encounter in The Surge 2 is a military robot named P.A.X. who is difficult to beat. He is not only armed & armored but if players want to beat him, then they need to make a strategy to let him damage himself using his rocket strike.

The Surge 2 has more bosses than The Surge. The bosses are of varying sizes & of varying difficulty. Every level has one boss encounter at the end that needs players’ patience & learning, & players can devise a strategy to beat him.

The Surge 2 Story:

The Surge 2 is also based on the story about survival like its first part. Players can once again use their exosuit & fight their way through rage filled survivors.
