Play as a peasant who wants a fortune & is sent into the goldmine by a selfish boss who does not care for peasant’s wellbeing. He works in extreme environment & among creatures that can eliminate him. In case of death, another peasant will take his place.

Undermine Gameplay:

Undermine is an action-adventure, rogue-like RPG. You have to mine gold on each run & peasant’s power can be enhanced by discovering relics. You need to rescue NPCs & take them to the hub where they can open up shop & can offer upgrades. Explore locations, find secrets & finally defeat boss. Go deeper into the land & find relics, potions, face enemies, find secrets & friends to help you on your mission. The game is also about exploring landscape. You can use the gold found in the game to upgrade, unlock skills & craft items. Be ready to fight against powerful bosses.

In first round, players take turn investing in Investment Cards with their 2 Diamond Tokens. After all players make their investments, the Collection Phase starts in the game. In the collection phase, players get the profit for their investments from the bank, while giving back the used Diamond & Miner Tokens to the bank. When the collection phase is finished in the game, round 2 begins. The game continues like this up to the point when the sum of a player's Equipment Card points equal 7. Players have to try their best to be the first to reach 7 points.

Discovering different regions, gathering treasure, & battling against adorable rivals is what makes me happy but something that really pushed me off is game’s relics that delve me further into the game. I started with my hero who is called “peasant”, & I immediately started exploring the depths of the mines, & revealed objects that hold immense powers. I found floating shoes that helped me in walking over the hazardous pits & a sewing kit can be used to save hard-mined ore when I pass away. Also freeing people will aid me by selling useful objects.

The very first objective I received was to discover the reason behind tremors in the depths while looking for a lost blacksmith. Just from the beginning, I had a weapon: an axe for cracking the skulls & I was looking for coverts & a blank mini map at my screen corner started populating. Gathering keys allowed me to enter regions that were previously locked, & I was rewarded while exploring those areas. If you are able to discover it, the Keyblade artifact can be used to enhance the damage of axe, & collecting more such keys can further improve axe.

I fought a collection of bizarre monsters, from mouse, to flies who spits green orbs at you. Also another cute creative known as Pilfers can silently snatch your treasure. There are rooms filled with dangers including spikes, spinning blades, & more such hazards.

If you pass away in a roguelike, then it can be frustrating but this game saves half of your treasure. In every region you will encounter a boss that can put your skills & powerful artifacts to the test. It isn’t easy to beat every foe in first attempt but feels very encouraging when you are able to defeat a rival that have been troublesome in previous walkthroughs. However, this game is not difficult & the thing that I like in Undermine is powerful artifacts. Early Access updates of the game shows improvements & I am curious to play it as soon as its final version is available.
